I'm Free 06:55
When I was a little girl, my mama said to me Don't let anybody tell you who to be Even though I'm all grown, you know I'm still the same The way you make me feel, I'm not gonna play that game (Lead-In) You gotta say what you say, to do what you do Fight the good fight or they'll take it from you So let me go, or you'll have to pay Nothing's gonna stop me don't you get in my way ('cause) (Chorus) I'm free, yes I'm free To find the way that God meant for me And now I see, with my own eyes A whole new world from the one that I now say goodbye You tell me where to go, and what to do If you think you own me, you haven't got a clue Do you hear these words coming out of my mouth If you don't see me for me, then get the hell out Lead-In Chorus

Funky Girl 05:29
When the day is growing shorter And you want to hit the club Walk on in, it's the night And you're feeling alright You're not gonna dance alone When the night is growing shorter And you want to take her home Walk on up, take her hand You're a man with a plan She don't want to dance alone (Chorus) She's the funky girl at the night club And she likes to break it down The disco is in her soul And she can't stop a'moving around In the club, it's getting harder To find a girl alone But don't give up, 'cause she's there Make a move, don't be scared You know your confidence is there Now it's late, you're getting closer And the dancing's all you need Get on down, it's the time They say two make the night Let's get down till the break of dawn (Chorus) --Pedal / Charlie madnesss-- (Chorus again)

Superstition 05:40
Very superstitious, writing's on the wall, Very superstitious, ladders bout' to fall, Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past. When you believe in things that you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way Very superstitious, wash your face and hands, Rid me of the problem, do all that you can, Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong, You don't wanna save me, sad is my song. When you believe in things that you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way. Very superstitious, nothin' more to say, Very superstitious, the devil's on his way, Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass, Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past When you believe in things that you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way.

Evil Ways 05:25
You've got to change your evil ways, baby, before I stop lovin' you. You've got to change, baby, and every word that I say is true. You got me runnin' and hidin' all over town, you got me sneakin' and a-peepin' and runnin' you down. This can't go on, Lord knows you got to change, baby. When I come home, baby, my house is dark and my pots are cold. You're hangin' round, baby, with Jean and Joan and-a who knows who. I'm gettin' tried of waitin' and foolin' around, I'll find somebody who won't make me feel like a clown. This can't go on, Lord knows you got to change, baby.

Move On Up 05:53
Move On Up: Hush now child, and don't you cry Your folks might understand you by and by Move on up towards your destination You may find from time to time Complications Bight your lip and take a trip Though there may be wet road ahead You cannot slip So move on up and peace you will find Into the steeple of beautiful people Where there's only one kind So hush now child and don't you cry Your folks might understand you by and by Just move on up and keep on wishing Remember your dreams are your only schemes So keep on pushing Take nothing less - not even second best And do not obey - you must have your say You can past the test Touch the Sky: I gotta testify, come up in the spot looking extra fly For the day I die, I'mma touch the sky Gotta testify, come up in the spot looking extra fly For the day I die, I'mma touch the sky Back when they thought pink polo's would hurt the Roc, Before Cam got the shit to pop, the doors was closed. I felt like Bad Boy's street team, I couldn't work the Lox (locks). Now let's go. Take 'em back to the plan... Me and my momma hopped in the U-Haul van. Any pessimists I ain't talked to them, Plus, I ain't have no phone in my apartment.

about

This EP is a snapshot of the glory that was Hot Prowl. We are a funk band based out of Stanford, CA, and our year-long reign as the baddest band on campus just came to an end this June. We stayed up all night the week before finals to record this EP, so that our abiding funkiness would be immortalized. This isn't all of the Hot Prowl playbook, but it's a few choice picks.

#French House. #TDX. #Casa Italiana.
